What makes a product "green?"
Material Use - What is the product made of? The materials used to manufacture a product go a long way in determining how environmentally-friendly it is. When possible, choose products that are made of recycled or natural materials. Also consider how the materials used in the product were acquired. For example, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification ensures that the wood used in the product was harvested in a sustainable, environmentally-sensitive manner.
Manufacturing Process - How is the product made? Are there byproducts of the manufacturing process that are harmful to the environment? When choosing a product, consider how it is made.
